Rehabilitation of the Coastal Road Sobratah–Zouara

The project for the rehabilitation of the coastal road section Sobratah–Zouara (a 20 km single-lane bidirectional road) in Libya aims to improve and modernize a strategic section of international road infrastructure. This road runs along the Mediterranean across the country, connecting the Tunisian and Egyptian borders. The works include pavement refurbishment, structural reinforcement, drainage improvement, and signage installation, thereby enhancing connectivity, increasing safety, and contributing to the region's economic development.

Cost:25,500,000 TND

Scope of Work:

- Milling of the old wearing course at a depth of 6 cm.
- Widening of the road by 1.80 m on each side, including earthworks and placement of two layers of 0/20 granular sub-base, with a total thickness of 40 cm.
- Laying a new 6 cm thick layer of bituminous base.
- Reinforcement of the widened sections with a geogrid laid over a width of 2.50 m on both sides of the road.
- Application of a reinforced wearing course with the addition of a rut-resistant additive (PR Flex 20), over a width of 11 m along the entire route.
- Construction of shoulders using 0/20 granular sub-base.
- Installation of vertical and horizontal road signage.
